2010 Race Recap (5/17/2010):
The introductory 3-hr race got off to a fast start with teams hitting two CP’s south of the main road and then heading off for a 1.5 mile paddle in the St Croix River. Due to the temperature and the speed of the current in the river, this section was shortened by half a mile from the original course design. Following cleaning and deflating the kayaks, teams made their way back to the Trail Center to transition to bikes and a 7 mile ride on minimum maintenance and county roads out of the park and back. Since we didn’t have any technical mountain biking nearby, we made due with a slick and muddy hill that saw more than one team walk their bikes up and down. The total distance for this race was approximately 14 miles.
Winners of the 4-Person Coed division were Burt Sucks! in 2 hours and 13 minutes; followed by Teamwreck four minutes later; and then Team GreatMNRace. Claiming first in the 2-Person Coed division for the second year in a row was Sentimental Journey in 2 hours and 16 minutes; then Lost and Wet six minutes back; with We Got the Runs coming in one minute later. The 2-Person Open division saw Irish Tornado taking first (and first overall) in a blistering 2 hours and 7 minutes, then (Sarah and) the Flesh Monkeys two minutes back, followed closely by The Goonies three minutes later.
